API and MCP
Run your client business from Claude or ChatGPT
Add SparkDesk as a custom connector, sign in, and pick your workspace. Your assistant can find clients, log time, draft invoices from hours and record payments, and it can never do more than you can in the app.
Included on every plan, including Free, at no extra cost.
Draft an invoice for Halcyon Health from their unbilled hours this month.
invoice_generate_from_hoursaccount: "Halcyon Health", from: "2026-10-01", to: "2026-10-31"22.0 unbilled hours found. Draft INV-2026-0004 created.
I found 22.0 unbilled hours for Halcyon Health in October and created draft invoice INV-2026-0004 using the layout and terms from their last invoice. It is a draft, so nothing has been sent. Want me to add the stock photography licences as a line item before you review it?
The problem
Sound familiar?
- I copy numbers from the CRM into an AI chat, then copy the answer back.
- Connecting our tools means a developer, an integration platform and another bill.
- I'm not giving an AI tool admin access to every client's data.
How it works
Connected in a few minutes
1
Add the connector
Copy the MCP server URL from Settings and add it as a custom connector in Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client.
2
Sign in and pick the workspace
Approve the connection with OAuth and choose the organization it works in. No API key to copy.
3
Ask in plain language
Ask for a client's unbilled hours this month and have the assistant draft the invoice, or log time while you talk.
4
Review the activity
Every request appears in the API & MCP Activity report with the tool, person, record and result.
What you get
- About 60 tools by default
- One set of record tools across CRM, projects, time, invoices, expenses, contracts and docs, plus about 188 in the full set.
- Your permissions, nothing more
- A signed-in connection runs as you, with your role and permissions. Admin-only tools are refused for everyone else.
- Real finance actions
- Generate an invoice from hours, record a payment, void an invoice and reconcile transactions, all from the chat.
- Flows, forms and settings
- Build and test flows, create forms, manage custom fields and picklists, and work with custom objects.
- REST API
- A JSON API with consistent errors, rate-limit headers, idempotency keys for safe retries, and trash and restore on every resource.
- Integration users
- Create personal or service keys for integrations. Integration users for the API do not take a paid seat.

Which AI assistants work with SparkDesk?
Claude, ChatGPT and any client that supports the Model Context Protocol. Inside the app, Orbit is SparkDesk's own assistant.
Can the assistant see or change data I can't?
No. A signed-in connection runs with your exact role and permissions, and every request is recorded in the API & MCP Activity report.
How is this different from other client-work tools?
As of October 2026, HoneyBook, Dubsado, Bonsai and Productive do not offer a first-party MCP server. Attio and Twenty do, but theirs cover CRM only. SparkDesk's covers CRM, projects, time, invoices, Flows and more.
Can I use an API key instead of signing in?
Yes. Create a personal key in Settings for clients that cannot sign in. It runs with your permissions, the same as the app.
